Bold Career Moves: How The TOP 1% Women Do It

Hey there, if you’re someone who is navigating a career transition or thinking about one & are feeling overwhelmed, know that you’re not alone.

Having transitioned from a tech consultant to tech sales (no prior sales experience 🤭) & now to be a coach + a business owner, safe to say I’ve got few reps in.

Nonetheless, the transition can be overwhelming despite your prior experience.

TODAY’s TOPIC

  • What’s the biggest mistake to watch out for during a career transition

  • Why does it matter

  • How the TOP 1% women do it differently

WHAT’s THE BIGGEST MISTAKE

The biggest mistake women often make during career transitions is 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹.

They play it safe & don’t take risks.

They are fearful of the change, the disruption.

They are afraid to fall short of what’s expected of them.

WHY DOES IT MATTER

These limiting beliefs keep many women stuck in the same place for 10-15 years. They hinder progress & prevent women from realizing their true capabilities.

These limiting beliefs manifest in many ways:

• 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁: Many women question their abilities & whether they truly deserve the opportunities they seek.

• 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲: The fear of not meeting expectations or making mistakes leads to a reluctance to take on new challenges.

• 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀: Staying within familiar boundaries feels safe, but it also limits progress.

• 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: Women might believe they lack the necessary skills or experience for a new role, even when they are fully capable.

• 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Societal & cultural expectations influence women's career choices, leading them to prioritize stability over ambition.

HOW THE TOP 1% DO IT DIFFERENTLY

What I’ve noticed when working with successful women is that they show up differently than most despite their limiting beliefs. And yes, they do have limiting beliefs but embrace the fact that they are much more than those beliefs.

They:

• 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀: They take ownership of their career development and don't wait for their employers to come up with a plan.

• 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: They understand the value of learning from others & that they don't have to figure it out alone.

• 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲: They build a network of individuals who can help them level up their career in half the time.

• 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀: They are willing to step out of their comfort zones & take calculated risks.

• 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳𝘀: They actively work on identifying & challenging the beliefs that hold them back.

My best advice to you is to believe in your potential & take bold steps towards your career & life goals.

You’re worthy of your desires & dreams AND sky really is the limit.

I'm rooting for you ♥️
