To protect your time and energy.
To protect your mental and emotional wellbeing.
To focus on what matters to you!
(Tip: Setting boundaries isnโt about being rigid, rather optimizing performance while maintaining balance and well-being.)
HOW
1. ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐.
โณ Your boundaries should align to what matters most to you.
โณ Define your hard boundaries (non-negotiables) & soft boundaries (flexibles)
2. ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐.
โณ Create clear structures for your work & delegate work that does not have to be done by you (more on this in a minute).
โณ Set aside specific times for focused tasks and prioritize effectively.
3. ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น.
โณ Communicate your needs & priorities properly with people around you.
โณ For example let others know you prefer to not be disturbed doing focus work.
4. ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก๐ข ๐ผ๐ณ๐๐ฒ๐ป.
โณ Be comfortable saying NO to tasks or obligations.
โณ Remind yourself that overcommitting isnโt serving you.
WHERE TO START
Have you heard of the Eisenhower Decision Matrix? Here is what I would like you to do.
Give yourself 15 minutes.
Find yourself a quiet place with the least number of distractions (Perhaps early in the morning or after putting kids to bed if you have one or more).
Make your to-do list. List everything that you do and think about!
Next, on a sheet create four quadrants as described below and park items from your to-do list in appropriate quadrants.
Be honest and challenge yourself to delegate and delete as much as possible.
Communicate your priorities.
