How to really have it all!

Is "having it all" holding you back?
For decades, we’ve been sold a narrative that we can flawlessly balance a thriving career, a perfect family, & personal fulfillment.
But is this ideal setting impossible standards?
TODAY’S TOPIC
What does “having it all” mean
Why is it a myth
How to define your own success & happiness
WHAT
The phrase “having it all” can mean different things to different people. But traditionally, it has been associated with successfully managing both a thriving career & a fulfilling family life.
For some, it means achieving personal happiness & satisfaction in various aspects of life, such as career, relationships, hobbies & personal growth.
WHY
The concept of “having it all” suggests a state of perfect balance & fulfillment in all areas of life, which is challenging to achieve.
Here’s few reasons why it is a myth:
Unrealistic expectations: The idea of “having it all” sets a high bar that can be difficult to reach.
Constant trade-offs: Life involves making choices & trade-offs. Depending on what season of life you are in, your focus & priorities will change.
Societal pressures: Societal pressures especially social media can create a false sense of what “having it all” looks like, often based on external achievements rather than internal satisfaction.
HOW
Breaking free from societal influences, unrealistic expectations and defining your own version of success & happiness involves several steps:
Self-awareness: Take time to reflect on your values, passions, & what truly makes you happy.
Challenge norms: Ask yourself why certain standards exist & whether they align with your values.
Set personal goals: You define what success means to you. Set goals that reflect your values & aspirations not society’s.
Avoid the comparison trap: Reduce exposure to negative people & especially social media which often portrays unrealistic & idealized versions of success.
Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself. Understand that it’s okay to make mistakes & that personal development is a continuous process.
Most importantly, remember happiness is an inside job :)
