Leading with a powerful WHY

Unlock your potential with Passion + Purpose! 💡

Leading with a powerful WHY

Have you ever wondered why you are going through motions day in, day out?

Don’t worry, most of us fall into this trap. Let’s discuss!

TODAY’s TOPIC

  • What does it mean to lead with a powerful WHY?

  • Why should you have a powerful WHY?

  • Where to start?

WHAT

Leading with a powerful WHY (a concept popularized by Simon Sinek) means grounding your goals & actions in a clear, compelling purpose that resonates deeply with you and those around you.

It emphasizes the importance of understanding & communicating the core belief that derives you.

WHY

A powerful WHY leads to:

  • Inspiration & motivation

  • Clarity & focus

  • Resilience & commitment

  • Authenticity & trust

I would like to break this further as:

Your Passion + Your Purpose = Your Ultimate WHY

Why, you ask?

Because,

Passion fuels you. Purpose drives impact.

Passion is for you. Purpose is what you give to the world.

Passion is your inner fire. Purpose is your mark on the world.

Without passion and purpose, you drift aimlessly.

Purpose without passion leads to burnout.

Passion without purpose brings fleeting joy.

Together, they unlock enduring fulfillment.

When passion and purpose align, you discover your ultimate WHY!

PS: If you haven’t figured out your purpose, relax, you will. And, if you think your purpose is inward focusing, that is OK!

By having an inward focused purpose you are still making an impact on people around you.

WHERE TO START

Finding your powerful ‘why’ involves a journey of self-discovery & reflection. Here are few steps to get you started:

  1. Reflect on your past: Think about moments in your life when you felt most fulfilled & happy. What were you doing? Who were you with? What impact were you making?

  2. Identify your core values: Write down your top values & think about how they influence your decisions & actions.

  3. Ask yourself deep questions: Why do you do what you do? What gets you out of bed every morning? What type of impact you want to leave on the people around you? Who are these people?

  4. Seek feedback from trusted friends: Have a conversation with close trusted friends and ask them why they value your friendship. Their insights can help you see qualities & strengths you might overlook.

  5. Craft your WHY statement: Combine your reflections, values, & feedback into a clear & concise statement that captures your purpose.

Your WHY statement should be simple, memorable & emotionally resonant.

Remember, your WHY is the key to your legacy!
