Maybe You're Not Stuck
What if you're just afraid to choose?

Maybe You're Not Stuck
A woman I was speaking with recently said something I hear all the time.
"I think I need more clarity."
We'd been talking for about twenty minutes.
She told me what she wanted, what wasn't working anymore and which opportunity excited her most.
Then she paused.
"But I'm not sure yet."
I remember smiling. Because from where I was sitting, she seemed pretty sure.
The challenge wasn't that she didn't know.
The challenge was that once she admitted what she wanted, she might actually have to do something about it.
And that feels very different.
A lot of women think they're stuck because they don't have clarity.
I'm not convinced that's true.
WHAT
I've had versions of this conversation more times than I can count.
A woman says she's stuck. She says she's trying to figure out what's next.
She's waiting for the answer.
Waiting for certainty, to feel completely ready.
But when we start talking, it's often obvious that she already knows more than she's willing to admit.
She knows the role she's outgrown.
She knows the conversation she's avoiding.
She knows the decision sitting in the back of her mind.
What she's calling a lack of clarity is often something else entirely.
I call it The Clarity Stall.
That space between knowing and choosing.
WHY
Because choosing changes things.
As long as a decision stays in your head, nothing is at risk.
You can keep exploring.
Keep thinking. Keep gathering information.
The moment you choose, though, you become responsible for what happens next.
And that's where fear likes to show up.
What if this is the wrong move?
What if it doesn't work?
What if I regret it?
What if everyone else thinks I've made a mistake?
So instead of making a decision, we tell ourselves we need more clarity.
It feels productive. It feels responsible.
It even sounds wise.
But sometimes it's just fear hiding behind a very respectable excuse.
HOW
The next time you find yourself saying, "I just need more clarity," try asking yourself a different question.
If I trusted myself completely, what would I do next?
Not if success was guaranteed.
Not if there was no risk.
Not if someone else approved.
Just if you trusted yourself.
Because I've found that clarity is rarely the thing that's missing.
More often, what's missing is trust.
Trust that you'll figure it out.
Trust that you can handle discomfort.
Trust that even if things don't go to plan, you'll be okay.
If this felt like a reflection of your current chapter, spend a few minutes with this question:
What decision have I already made in my heart that I'm still trying to make in my head?
