⌛Are you waiting on someone else to lead you to success?

What if the key to your breakthrough was already in your hands?

TODAY’s TOPIC

  • What is self-leadership and key components.

  • Why does it matter?

  • How to cultivate self-leadership?

WHAT

Self-leadership is your ticket to personal and professional growth.

Self-leadership, coined by Charles C. Manz in the 1980s, is about

understanding who you are

defining your desires & goals

aligning your actions to achieve them

Key components of self-leadership (what I refer to as the GRAMMAR framework):

𝙂𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Defining clear, achievable goals that match your aspirations.

𝙍𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Managing emotions and behaviors to stay productive. This includes time management and stress management techniques.

𝘼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Understanding your own strengths, weaknesses, values, and motivations. This involves regular self-reflection and feedback.

𝙈𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Cultivating the internal drive to pursue your goals, even in the face of challenges and setbacks.

𝙈𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: Using positive and constructive internal dialogue to boost confidence and resilience.

𝘼𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Taking responsibility for your actions and outcomes, and being honest with yourself about your progress and areas for improvement.

𝙍𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱: Recognizing and celebrating your achievements to maintain motivation and reinforce positive behaviors.

WHY

Here’s why self-leadership matters (what I refer to as the PIES framework):

𝙋𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: Encourages continuous self-improvement and development.

𝙄𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀: Leading by example can inspire and motivate others around you.

𝙀𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Personal goals keep you driven.

𝙎𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀: Better communication fosters teamwork.

HOW

Cultivating self-leadership takes a conscious effort & patience, and working with a high performance coach can help accelerate that.
