Sticking to your New Year Resolutions

Why quit after 10 days?
Hey there, Happy New Year to you!
My hope is you took the time over holidays to reconnect with loved ones and most importantly yourself.
I did & feel like a million bucks😃
TODAY’S TOPIC
What is Quitter’s Day?
Why people quit & abandon their goals?
How to set goals & follow through
WHAT
Did you know that the second Friday in January is known as Quitter's Day?
It's when 80% of people give up on their New Year's Resolutions!😬
This year, Quitter’s Day falls on Friday, January 10th.
WHY
Why on earth so many people give up so soon? Let’s break it down.
Timing matters: Resolutions made out of tradition often lack real motivation.
Failure to plan for obstacles: Life isn’t linear and even the well laid plans can get disrupted.
Unrealistic expectations: Setting goals that are too challenging or expecting quick results can lead to frustration & eventual abandonment.
No accountability: Our human brain is wired to seek pleasure & comfort. Without accountability, it is so easy to give up.
HOW
It’s not late to pivot and rethink your goals & ambitions for 2025. Here’s how I would like for you to approach goal setting.
Start with gratitude: Reflect back on how 2024 went for you. Identify the key highlights, wins & lessons learnt. This will give you insight into potential opportunities for 2025.
Start small: Identify 3 things you would like to focus on in 2025. An example could be to build a stronger body.
Identify 1 thing to start with: What’s the one thing you could start doing today to work towards your goal of building a stronger body? An example would be walking 5,000 steps everyday or taking a weekly Pilates class.
Seek accountability: Find yourself an accountability partner and share your goal and action item with them. That way your brain won’t directly go towards comfort.
Be kind to yourself: Lastly, be kind to yourself. If things don't go as planned, focus on getting back into rhythm. Remember, life is not linear!
Until next week,
